NORC was proud to have an unprecedented line up of conservative groups that presented and fielded questions. Each of these state leaders layed out the blunt reality of the rights we have recently lost and informed us of what we can expect to lose if we don’t act now!

LEADERS BIOGRAPHIES:

Kathleen Bordo Crombie
Kathleen is the Director of Minority Outreach and Gift Planning for Right to Life of Michigan. With an office in Farmington Hills, she oversees RLM’s prolife work in both the Hispanic and African-American communities. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech from Northern Michigan University (Marquette, MI), and her Masters of Arts in Organizational Communication and Public Relations from Wayne State University (Detroit, MI). She is a graduate of New Detroit’s Multicultural Leadership Series, and is a member of the Executive Steering Committee for the Annual Metro Detroit Youth Day.



Leon Drolet
Leon is the founder of the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance, which he currently Chairs. From 2000 to 2006 Drolet served in the Michigan House of Representatives. Drolet also served as a Macomb County Commissioner from 1999-2000 and from 2006-2008. In the 2006 election he acted as state-wide Chair of the successful Michigan Civil Rights Initiative.

During his final term in the state legislature, Drolet co-authored a state constitutional amendment that prohibited governments in Michigan from using their power of eminent domain to seize citizens' private property and turn it over to new owners for their private use.



Jay A. Fedewa
Jay is the Executive director of The Family Rights Coalition of Michigan, Fedewa is an automotive engineer and president of Fedewa & Associates. A father of two, he is very active as a leader in his community and his church. He plans to apply his system engineering skills to the court system and state government to improve the quality of family life and the performance of Michigan’s economy.



Paul Garfield
Paul is the Michigan representative of Gun Owners of America, he is also involved with FreedomWorks, recently being appointed as a FreedomWorks Congressional Action Team Leader mobilizing fellow grassroots activists. Paul has traveled to Washington, D.C.to support the Republican Study Committee’s Renewed Contract with America, attended issue symposiums, anti-tax protests, and most recently has led the opposition to local bond initiatives. He also was a legislative assistant in the Michigan House and Senate and a policy analyst for the State and Local Government Economic Empowerment Committee.



Amy Hagerstrom
Principal, consultant, Azure Strategies Free market activist and founder of the Michigan chapter of Americans for Prosperity

Amy Hagerstrom has spent the last 13 years as a public relations and issue management professional. During that time she has worked every aspect of political communications, including issue advocacy, political fundraising, lobbying, and media relations. As a consultant Amy has had a diverse range of clients including statewide ballot initiatives, local referendums, legislative issues, and candidates for state representative, state senate, congress, and U.S. president. Amy was also the founder of the Michigan chapter of Americans for Prosperity and remains a committed activist for the organization, which is now run by her husband, Scott Hagerstrom.

Amy currently works for TechSmith Corporation as a global PR manager and also continues to run her consulting business, Azure Strategies. She has her M.A. in public relations from Michigan State University and is a PhD candidate at MSU in Media and Information Studies, researching the Internet and social media and their potential impact on political participation and policy outcomes. Amy and Scott have four children and live in East Lansing.



Sean House
Sean served in the Army in Desert Storm and left the Army decorated with seven medals, including the Army Commendation for Heroism for rescuing a helicopter pilot from a crash he witnessed. Sean is a 15-year veteran emcee and disc jockey of his own business, Magic Moments. Sean has been involved with local politics and has been a strong voice for conservatives for over 20 years. He is currently the Michigan State Coordinator for the conservative-based grassroots organization, The Campaign for Liberty.
